Rugby
Due to the very physical nature of the sport, rugby players are often subjected to neck and shoulder soft tissue injuries, sprains and dislocations. Weak hamstrings can also result in a lack of power and fatigue, whilst ankle injuries and stress on the feet can lead to tight calf muscles and reduced ankle flexion
Football
It can be common in football to suffer a muscle sprain from explosive actions and close contact e.g. a tear to the hamstring can occur if the muscle is too tight, has been asked to do too much too quickly, and/or has not been warmed up properly
Volleyball
In volleyball, ankle sprains are common, which can often lead to injury to the peroneus longus muscle (outside of the lower leg)
If allowed to develop scar tissue, this muscle will lose its normal function, which is key to ankle stability on landing. Any instability developed is then more than likely to lead to repeat injuries
Due to constantly jumping, patella tendinitis (“jumper’s knee”), and patellofemoral pain syndrome (symptoms are mild inflammation and swelling around the knee) can develop from overuse and not allowing previous injuries to this area to recover properly
